The Legacy Program is on hiatus until September 1 as we make updates to our inventory software. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. To receive a notification by email when the program returns, please submit your name and email address using the contact form below.

Please note: the guidelines below were in place through 2019. The guidelines beginning September 1, 2020 may differ.

  • Legacy trees and benches must be left as-is; no additional decorations, plantings or ashes may be added.
  • An acknowledgement card can be sent to the honoree’s family if an address is provided.
  • New trees are planted between October 1 and December 15. Trees adopted after October 1, will be planted the following year between October 1 and December 15.
  • Contributions are tax deductible to the full extent of the law.
  • In 2019, the cost of a legacy tree was $2,500. Benches were not available for adoption in recent years.

Other Ways to Honor a Loved One

Honor a loved one by sponsoring one tree to be planted in an undeveloped area of a Great Park. Your loved one, or his/her family, will receive a personalized certificate indicating the park and your name. Learn more at Reforest a Great Park.
