“My wife and I give financial support to Great Parks Forever because we like and support its purposes. As a retired tax lawyer, I see making Qualified Charitable Distributions to it from my IRA as the most tax-efficient way to do this. This is important after tax law changes for 2018 made it more difficult to deduct other kinds of charitable contributions. Of course, Qualified Charitable Distributions work only for certain IRA distributions by those who are over 70-1/2, which fits us. Our IRA custodian is very familiar with these distributions and had no trouble following our instructions. Great Parks Forever provided simple instructions about how to process the gift and gave us the confirmation we needed. It was easy in every way.”
